Alfred Erps Dies; Rites Are Monday
Alfred Erps, 91, a resident of 713 N. Capital street, died at 9:50 a.m. today, July 1, 1972, in Pekin Hospital, where he had been a patient for one week. He had been ill several years.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Kuecks Funeral Home. Rev. William Pruett will officiate, and burial will be in Park Lawn cememtery at Danvers.
Friends may call from 3 until 5 and 7 until 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Born at Holstein, Germany, Oct. 11, 1880. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Erps. He married Bessie Mae Simpson Dec. 11, 1918. (error in obit. Marriage date is 7 Dec. 1907)
Mr. Erps retired from the New York Central Railroad in 1957 after 29 years of employment. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving are 12 sons, Jacob of Omaha, Neb., John of Houston, Tex., James of German, Minn., Clifford of Petersburg, Cecil of Lexington, Robert, Raymond, Howard, and Donald, all of Pekin. Edmond of West Side, Ia, Kenneth of Chicago, and Clarence, three daughters, Mrs. Doris Takedo of Elk Grove, Miss Mary Erps, at home, and Mrs. Betty Scott of Pekin, one half brother Charles Erps of Danville, 23 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
Two sisters, two brothers, two sons, and one daughter preceded him in death.
