BIOGRAPHY
Cornelia Dean Henderson, age 80 of Tyrone GA, passed away June 1, 2013.
She was a graduate of Crawford W. Long School of Nursing, received a B.S. in Nursing from Medical College of Georgia and worked for over 30 years in the field of nursing. She retired from Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
In addition to excelling in the field of nursing she was a homemaker extraordinaire, an expert seamstress, cook and gardener. Putting others before herself was a lifelong characteristic, beginning as teenager by taking care of her siblings after their mother died. Her unselfishness was manifested in many ways, including devotion to family and church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
She was a member of Sandy Springs United Methodist Church, the Hiawassee United Methodist Church where her husband and she spent happy retirement years, and her last membership was in Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone, GA.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charles M. Henderson II: son, Charles Henderson Jr.; daughter, Laura (David) Gabbard; Grandchildren, Sam & Max Gabbard; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Hopewell United Methodist 351 Jenkins Road, Tyrone, Ga 30290 with visitation 1 hour prior.
