Funeral services for Mattie Belle Freeman, 89, of Corrigan, Texas, will be held Friday, December 18, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Lindell Mitchell officiating. Interment will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, December 18, 2015 in the Pierce Cemetery in Carthage, Texas. Visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2015 in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas. 

Mrs. Freeman was born October 6, 1926 in Tatum, Texas to parents, J. Ras Pitts and Mattie Mae (Pierce) Pitts, and passed away December 15, 2015 in Lufkin, Texas. During her life, she worked at Longview Drug after graduating from Tatum High School. Mattie also worked at Patterson Dental Laboratory, then at Perkin’s Brothers Department Store in Longview. After moving to Baytown, she began working at Beall’s Department Store in Baytown and would continue to work there for the next 12 years. She taught Sunday school at Virginia St. Church, Missouri St. Church of Christ in Baytown, then at Livingston Church of Christ. She joined the Memorial Medical Center Livingston Hospital Auxiliary in March 2003 and worked there for 3 years. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Thomas Freeman; son, Charles Michael Freeman; brothers and sisters, Cora Edna, Jim Hardy, Roy Robert, Jim Ras, Frank Alvie, Harold Lloyd, Carol Floyd, Bobby James and Annie Jean. 

She is survived by her daughter, daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Mark Kortz of Corrigan, Texas; sister, Dorothy Gregg of Longview, Texas; granddaughter, Ashley Neslage and husband, John of Houston, Texas; granddaughter, Beth Mulhollan and fiancé, Scott Paske of Livingston, Texas; granddaughter, Julie Carver and husband, Mike of Wells, Texas; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Yarbrough and husband, Galen, Cameron Wayne Bledsoe, Lizzie Gray, Jay Thomas Carver, Claire Neslage, Jack Neslage, and Mattie Carver; great-great grandchild, Rhyder Laine Yarbrough; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice in the Pines in Lufkin, Texas.
