Albert "Aubby" Hauff, 71, a longtime Peshastin-Cashmere resident, died at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane on Tuesday evening, Jan. 8, 1991. Mr. Hauff was born in Kulm, N.D., on April 21, 1919, to John and Margaret (Bauwer) Hauff. The family moved to Peshastin in 1924, where he received his early education and graduated from high school in 1937.

While attending Peshastin High School, Mr. Hauff started to work at the Peshastin lumber mill as a lumberman and craneman. He continued to work there until his retirement in 1987. Mr. Hauff took four years out to serve in the U.S.

Navy during World War II after enlisting on Dec. 8, 1941, the day after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. On Nov. 18, 1944, while in the service, he married Alice Hazan in Casablanca, Morocco.

Mr. Hauff attended the Cashmere United Methodist Church and had been very active in the Peshastin and Cashmere Little Leagues. He also was a very active bowler. He played baseball and basketball for Hauff j)aneti Champiain names Randall Baldwin the Peshastin Lumberjacks for many years. At one time, his brother coached the basketball team, which was made up of Mr. Hauff and his four other brothers.

Surviving are his wife, at home; two sons, Randy and Ronald Hauff, of Cashmere; a daughter, Rhonda Hauff, of Yakima; a brother, Ervin Hauff, of Duvall; a sister, Helen Link, of Blewett Pass; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Memorials in Mr. Hauffs memory can be made to the American Heart Association. Funeral services were Jan. 12 at the Braun Funeral Home in Cashmere.

The Rev. Glenn Kennedy officiated. Jean Meyers was organist. Vocalist Suzanne MacPherson sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Somewhere My Love." Burial followed in the Cashmere City Cemetery. Casket bearers were Dick Darlington, Chet Routson, Dave Bitterman, Elwood Link, Bud Russell and Robert Hauff.
