Mrs. Edna Louise Riley Wallace, 85, of Hamburg, died Monday, September 26, 2005, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado. A native and lifelong resident of Hamburg and a resident of DeQueen for the past two years, she retired from the Soil Conservation and Farm Bureau. She was a member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Adult Ladies Sunday School Class and the Lois Circle and served as clerk of Bartholomew Association for 22 years. She served as secretary-treasurer of the Promise Land Cemetery Association for 24 years and she was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star Hamburg Chapter, 151.


She is survived by a son, Randolph Wallace and wife Peggy of El Dorado; two daughters, Nancy Bryant and husband Bill of Idabel, OK, and Edna Mae Carlton and husband Joe of DeQueen; a daughter-in-law, Carol Sue Wallace of Monticello; a sister, Sue Cockrell and husband Olen of Monticello; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy R. Wallace, in 1973; a son, Richard Wallace, in June, 2005 ; her parents, Radford R. and Edna Belle Higginbotham Riley; and three sisters, Merle Benson, Alice Collins and Virginia Scott.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 28, in the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. Fredrick Etheridge, John Mooney and Curtis Brown officiating. Burial followed services in the Promise Land Cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews Ron Collins, James "Jimbo" Duke, David Duke, Bobby Hales, David Hamblen, James Harrison, John Martin and Shelby Scott. Funeral arrangements were by Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Promise Land Cemetery Association, c/o Mrs. JoAnn Sullivan, 318 Ashley 131, Hamburg, AR 71646.
