VISTA - Ellinor V. Shinner, 87, died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, January 30, 2007. She had been a resident of Vista since 1968 when she and her husband moved to Vista from Los Angeles. A graduate of UCLA, she was an active member of many civic, philanthropic and social organizations, where she volunteered her time and love.

Mrs. Shinner was preceded in death by her husband, William S. Shinner, in 1999. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Bill and Louise Vandling of Vista; daughter and son-in-law Virgina and Peder Odgaard of Copenhagen, Denmark; son and daughter-in-law Larry and Sandee Vandling of Las Vegas; and her many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at St. Anne's Anglican Church, 701 West Street in Oceanside, with interment at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Friends of the Vista Library, 700 Eucalyptus Ave., Vista, California, 92084, or the Vista Historical Society, P.O. Box 1032, Vista, California 92085-1032.

Eternal Hills Mortuary is handling arrangements.
