Helen (Nee Lapacz) Nitka, age 90, of Cascade passed away Wednesday morning (Dec. 2) at Beechwood Rest Home where she had been a resident for the past 3 years.
Helen was born on August 22nd, 1925 in the Town of Chase, WI; a daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Krawczyk) Lapacz.She attended public schools in Pulaski, WI.On June 5, 1948 she married Edmund Nitka. The couple resided in Sheboygan Falls for over 50 years. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1992. Helen loved baking, needle work, visiting with her grandchildren and taking care of her pet cat.
Survivors include: 3 Children: Sharon (Lynn) Proefrock of Waldo, Mary A. (Randy) Woodke of Cascade and Brian (Laura) Nitka of Sheboygan; Seven Grandchildren: Jennifer Proefrock, Michael Proefrock (Fiancee: Annie Fenner), Nathaniel Woodke, Aaron Woodke, Seth Woodke, Autumn Woodke and Justin Nitka; one great-grandchild: William; three Sisters: Lillian Kush, Clara Mleziva and Francis (Conrad) Lotto; one Brother: Alex (Leonida) Lapacz. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund; two sisters: Mary (William) Przybylski and Ciel Stoller; Nine brothers: Martin, Theodore (Dorothy), John (Anna), Louis (Ruth), Anton (Marilyn), Joseph Jr. Raymond and Stanley (Mary Jane) and Edward (Genevive); and Three Brothers-in-law: Vernon Stoller, Frank Kush and Bernard Mleziva.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Sheboygan Falls.
