She was born October 12, 1927 in Coatopa, Alabama.
Alberta married Rev. Leroy T. Nash, Sr. on October 10, 1970.
She was a graduate of Sumner High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Lincoln University in 1951. She taught in St. Joseph but retired from the Alton, Illinois School District.
Mrs. Nash was a member of St. Francis Baptist Temple and Sigma Gamma Rho at Lincoln University and she was a past Girl Scout Leader. She loved to sing, read her Bible and liked to cook and knit.
She was preceded in death by her husband; cousin and best friend, Rosie Gillispie; and mother and father, Owen Cartmell and Corena (Spencer) Cartmell.
Survivors include daughter, Jacqueline Williams (John); granddaughters, Precious Love (Ron Strader) and LaVesca Love-Moore (Michael); grandson, John Williams, Jr. (Sarah); great-grandchildren, Kenneth and Charles Strader, Brayden Moore and Nya Love-Moore, Jordan and Olivia Williams; and a host of estranged relatives in Mississippi. Farewell Services 3:00 P.M. Saturday, St. Francis Baptist Temple. Natural Farewell under the direction of Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
