Roxie Winifred Bentley was most recently a resident of Skyline Nursing Home in Floyd, Va. She now resides in Heaven with her Lord and Savoir Jesus Christ along with a host of family and friends who went before her.

Roxie was born Dec. 8, 1923, in Pulaski, Va., and worked at the Bag Loading Plant during World War II. She worked as an inspector for the Coca-Cola bottling Company for many years, and also worked as a clerk at Montgomery Ward in Pulaski. She was owner of an appliance company in Pulaski for awhile, and owned several rental properties as well. She loved traveling, fishing, golfing and most all sports, including dog-sledding, and had a special love for a little dog named “Buffy.”

She was preceded in death by parents Charlie and Lilly Bentley (Dobbins), as well as brothers Everett Bentley, Frank Bentley, Edgar Bentley, Roy Bentley, Dewey Bentley, Sherman Smith and Clarence Preston Bentley; and sisters Rosie Smith, Mandy Rupe, Lavy Dunagan, Bertha Fanning, Martha Pugh and Ozana Bentley.

She leaves lots of nieces and nephews who had a special place in her heart, along with many, many friends. Roxie will be sadly missed by family and friends.

A memorial service was held Friday, Nov. 20, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski. A private graveside service followed in Oakwood Cemetery, Pulaski.
