First wife of Charley Smith, and mother of three. Died of a ruptured appendix, before the doctor could reach her, not long after the birth of her second daughter. Her dear sister, Letha, promised to take care of her girls, as Lovie lay dying. She passed Nov. 17, 1918. True to her word, Letha married Charley, in the months after, and became the only mother her two nieces ever knew. Bessie and Mildred had two of the best, most loving mothers they could've been blessed with. The two women just happened to also be sisters. Letha also gave Charley many more children, making one great big farm family, and moving from Smith County's Horseshoe Bend to Nashville's Bell's Bend.
