ADAMS -- The funeral Mass for Celeste Matilda Prehatney will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin, with the Rev. Dale Tupper officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Adams.
Mrs. Prehatney, 98, of Austin, died Sunday (Aug. 27, 2006) at the Adams Healthcare Center.
Celeste Matilda Kiefer was born Aug. 21, 1908, in Adams. She graduated from high school in 1925. She enjoyed bowling, square dancing, playing cards, crocheting, and her collection of angel figurines and pins. She was a lifelong member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church. She worked in Central Supply at the Austin Clinic for more than 25 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Hugh) Duren of Arlington Heights, Ill., and Marilu (Mel) Mullenbach of Racine; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Kreitinger of Winter Haven, Fla., and Kay Schmidt of Austin; and a brother, Vernon Kiefer of Adams. She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
There will be a 4 p.m. CCW rosary and a 5:30 p.m. wake service Wednesday at Mayer Funeral Home in Austin, where friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friends also may call from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
