Ada was the second oldest of eight children. She often mentioned the fact that she milked cows with her brother, Chuck, helped her mother each year by canning huge amounts of vegetables and took care of her younger siblings. She graduated from Anchor Bay High School in 1945 and was her class Salutatorian. She attended Michigan State University and graduated from there with a degree in education in 1949. She taught first grade for many years but left teaching to raise her family. She later returned to teaching after obtaining a Masters in Education. She received the teacher of the year award for 1988-89 for her work in special education by the Lanse Cruse Middle School in Clinton Twp, Michigan. Ada was an active member of her church, a proud MSU Spartan, a supporter of PBS, a staunch Democrat and a great fan of the Detroit Tigers. She loved camping when her children were young and loved to travel. She also loved music, reading and family get-togethers. She had enormous energy, very definite ideas, was very stubborn and proud of it.
She was loved by many and is missed. Ada was predeceased by her son Richard Adams and grandson Kyle Adams. She is survived by son Jim Adams, his wife Joy, and her grandchildren Corey Adams and Lindsey Adams. She is also survived by her daughter Sue Adams Mawby and her husband Andy Mawby.
