Helen Spevack San Miguel, 96, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, November 27, 2015 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born May 10, 1919 in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of the late Thaddeus and Anna Ochrymowycz Spevack. She was also predeceased by her husband, Richard San Miguel.
Mrs. San Miguel was retired as a teacher from Spartanburg High School after 25 years of service. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.
Survivors include daughters, Linda Sapp (Robert) of Sparta, NJ; Helen Gielow (Jim Brown) and Barbara Zatezalo of Spartanburg, SC; sons, Dr. Richard Hays San Miguel (Cheryl) of Fairfield, CA and Peter San Miguel (Diana) of Greenville, SC; 13 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother, Henry Zale of Arlington Heights, IL; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, Stella Reilly, Joseph, and Frank Spevak.
Visitation will be 2:00 – 2:45 PM Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Robert L. Mahaffey. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
