In the 1911 Canada Census, widow Elizabeth C. Abbot, 84, born August, 1826, in N.B. was living in St. Stephen, N.B. with Mary C., 55, born September 1855; Sarah H., 54, born March, 1857; and Fannie L., 52, born April, 1859, all born in N.B.

In the 1901 Canada Census, widow Caroline Abbott, 74, born August 3, 1826, in N.B., was living in St. Stephen, N.B. with Mary, 42, born September 14, 1848; Henrietta, 39, born March 8, 1862; and Fannie, 37, born April 24, 1863, all born in N.B.


He married Caroline MARKS, eldest d/o late Col. Nehemiah MARKS who, with four daughters, survives him. The funeral will take place Friday at 2 o'clock. (St. Croix Courier, November 10, 1892)

In the 1861 Canada Census, Peter Mills Abbott, 43, born US, was living in St. Stephen Parish lower district, N.B. with Elizabeth C., 35; Mary C., 6; Sarah H., 4; Fannie L., 2; and Alice B., 0 years, all born in N.B.



When Nehemiah Marks died on 17 August 1853, all of the ships in his fleet had been sold or lost by shipwreck, but his estate still included timber and farm land in Charlotte County, town property in St. Stephen, and vast holdings of wood land in Maine and in York County, New Brunswick. For over twenty years, Nehemiah Marks was an officer in the Charlotte County Militia and Lieutenant Colonel of the Fourth Battalion. He was Overseer of the Poor for St. Stephen Parish for at least ten years, and was an active member of Christ Church (Anglican) in St. Stephen. He was survived by six children: John, Joseph P., Abraham H., Nehemiah, Elizabeth Caroline, and Sarah Henrietta. Elizabeth Caroline Marks, the daughter of Nehemiah Marks, Jr., and his wife Betsy, and Peter Mills Abbot were married in St. Stephen on 18 June 1851

Caroline was the daughter of Nehamiah Marks and Sarah Thompson.
