Nellie Marler Anderson Baker, age 88, passed in the arms of Jesus on March 1, 2006.

She was a lifelong resident and youngest daughter of W.T. "Uncle Billy" and Camella Marler, early founders of Destin, Fla. Nellie was a founding and faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Destin, served as clerk and Postmaster for 27½ years, donated the Old Destin Post Office building to the community as a museum, was appointed by Gov. Claude Kirk to serve on the board establishing the County Library System, Order of OES for 50 years, nominated in Who's Who as Outstanding Floridian, and many other volunteer awards. Nellie spent the last two years at Destin Healthcare and we appreciate all the loving care she received there.

She was preceded in death by her parents; eight siblings; a son, Andy Anderson; and grandson, Steve Moore.

She is survived by her brother, Thomas E. Marler; daughters and their husbands, Betty and John Moore, and Pat and Larry "Nick" Nicodemus; daughter-in-law, Martha Anderson; grandchildren, Larry Nicodemus (Marta), Sheryl Castro (Bernie), Beverly Mays Hairgrove (Andrew), Rick Moore (Kimberly) and Scott Anderson (Suzy); granddaughters-in-law, Nancy Leon and Brenda Oakes; great-grandchildren, Robert Zollner, Rachel May Bjornstad (Hans "B.J."), Amanda Anderson, Richard Moore and Maddie Moore, great-great grandchildren, Alexis and Aden Bjornstad; and a host of nephews and nieces.

Burial will be in Marler Memorial Cemetery. Emerald Coast Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
