Royce was the son of LLoyd Kelso Shahan & Mildred Lucille Richardson. He married Sherry L. Flowers. They had three children, Ronald, Mikelyn and Dawn. Royce farmed for many years in the Steptoe area and when he retired they moved to Colfax, WA.
