Maxine Booker, 86 died Sunday, November 1, 2015 at the Springhill Baptist Health Center in North Little Rock. A daughter of Jesse and Blanche Pilkington, Maxine was born on March 31, 1929 in the Park Grove community. She attended elementary school in Keevil and later became a graduate of Clarendon High School.

Just after celebrating her 18th birthday, Maxine and Hilton Booker were married on May 24, 1947 in Clarendon. Along with being a homemaker, she worked a number of years at the Van Heusen Shirt Factory in Brinkley and later at the Sarkes Tarzian Factory in Clarendon.

In earlier years Maxine was very active in the Monroe County Home Demonstration Club. In maintaining her home she enjoyed gardening and canning the vegetables. With a natural skill of sewing, through the years she made many dresses for her daughter.

Maxine was a longtime member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed fellowship with the church family and involvement with the auxiliary, Sunday School and VBS. Due to health challenges she had not been able to attend for several years.
