Sweetwater - Evalena B. Rowland, 87, of Sweetwater, died at 4:45 a.m. Thursday in Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cate-Spencer Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Sam Calloway, pastor of Longworth Baptist Church, and the Rev. Orvel Brantley, pastor of Lamar Street Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery.
Born Oct. 17, 1892 in Coryell County, she married R. L. Rowland on Aug. 1, 1909 in Oglesby. She was a resident of this area since 1920. She was a Baptist.
Her husband died Jan. 16, 1960.
Survivors include a son, Charles of Anaheim, Calif.; five daughters, Mrs. J. W. Williams of Roby, Mrs. Joe Ross of Seymour, Mrs. Don Kenneally of Sweetwater, Mrs. Albert Neves of Levelland, and Nan Marie Dorsey of Abilene; seven sisters, Lola Clayton, Glenna Sexton and Ina Griffin, all of Sweetwater, Lucy Evans of Abilene, Ruth Butts of Winters, Sybil Stewart of Corsicana and Vela Knight of Clute; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
