George Owen, 82, of Abilene, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Sweetwater Cemetery in Sweetwater with Don Owen officiating, directed by North's Funeral Home.
A native of Jones County, Mr. Owen was raised in Hamlin He was employed by Shell Oil Company for more than 30 years, retiring as automotive supervisor at the Midland office in 1963. He moved to Abilene from Possum Kingdom Lake in 1969 and was an active fisherman and hunter.
Survivors include his wife, Lee Owen of Abilene; a son, Don Owen of Eastland; a daughter, Betty Jo Bowlin of Loraine; a sister, Lillian Alexander of Spur; a brother, Meredith Owen of Abilene; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
