Marilyn was born on January 3, 1944, in Randolph County, Indiana, the daughter of Cecil and Catherine (Alexander) Wood. She was self-employed home health care provider. Marilyn was a member of the River of Life Church in Portland. Marilyn married Jerry Irelan on February 14, 2008.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 12 – 2 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Paula Hunnicutt officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in the Center Cemetery, west of Portland.
