Sweetwater - Clarence Olene Bennett, 74, of Sweetwater, died at 7:15 a.m. Monday in Root Memorial Hospital in Colorado City.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Shirley J. Shifflett and the Rev. A. M. Fox of the Pentecostal Church of God will officiate. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Floyd Shifflett, Floyd Shifflett, Jr., Benny Shifflett, Max Oden, W. W. Dillashaw, and W. H. Carey.

Born Aug. 20, 1906 in Cottonwood, he married Nannie Mae Haynes on Nov. 5, 1934 in Coleman. He had lived in Sweetwater the past 30 years and had worked for Strain Construction Company.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Durwood of Maysville, N.C., Jerald of Leonard and Laval of Sweetwater; a sister, Emma Woody of Cross Plains; a brother, Cecil of California; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
