Raymond Barthel was born Feb. 27, 1919, in Cold Spring to Henry and Elizabeth (Traut) Barthel He married Clara Klein on June 15, 1944, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Waite Park. He was a farmer and worked for Granite City Livestock. He lived in the St. Cloud area most of his life, and was a member of St Anthony's Catholic Church.
Survivors include sons and daughters, Frederick, Minneapolis; Reinhard, Coon Rapids; Donna Frisch, Browerville; Raymond, Joan, Roger and Yvonne Feneis, St. Cloud; Margie Long, Sauk Rapids; sisters, Alice Nierengarten, St. Cloud; Marie Schafer, Avon; Lorraine Gresser, Osseo; 17 grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, March 22, 1980; sisters, Irene Schmitz, Lucille Wruck and Bernelda; brothers, Celestine and Clarence; and one grandson.
