Della Ramona Madsen Downs passed away on November 12, 2015, just five weeks short of her ninety-fifth birthday.

She was born in Gunnison to Niels A. and Emma Ashliman Madsen on December 19, 1920. She was the ninth of twelve children.

Married to LeeRoy R. Downs in the Salt Lake Temple on January 4, 1944. They lived in California for two years before settling down in Murray, which has been their home ever since.

Gardening was a passion and she loved to compete in the county and state fairs, where she was named canning champion for many years. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, ten brothers and sisters, one son-in-law, and two granddaughters. Survivors include her sister, Ethel; sons, Stephen (Jan) of Cedar City, David (Vicky) of Salt Lake City, and Glen of Murray; her daughter, Doris, of Midvale; six grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at Redwood Memorial Estates Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road (1700 West), Taylorsville, between 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing one hour prior, on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 in the Murray Stake Center, 5750 South Nena Way, Murray.
