He was born April 1, 1928 in Noble County, Indiana a son of George S. and Vera Nina (Bitting) Easterday. At the age of four, his family moved to Union Township, Whitley County and then Troy Township for a year before returning to Union Township. He graduated from Coesse High School.
A farmer, he was also employed at L.W. Dailey Inc. in Fort Wayne for 25 years and from 1987 until his retirement in 1997 at Bercot Gipson Inc.
He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church.
Surviving relatives include a brother, George (Louise) Easterday Jr. of Columbia City; a sister, Delight "Dee" LaBarbera of New Haven; 15 nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam. The visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the Whitley County Agricultural Museum & 4H Learning Center.
