Fred Daniels (1932 - 2015)

Fred Northam Daniels

Eden, MD-Fred Northam Daniels went home to his lord and savior on November 5, 2015. Fred was born in Wenona, MD. to Frank Daniels and Sarah Jeanette Webster Daniels. He served in the U. S. Army after leaving high school. Upon his discharge from the army, Fred worked as a waterman. He later worked in a variety of jobs including positions with ChrisCraft, Dresser Wayne and Langenfelder's. Fred fondly remembered his time as the barber on Deal Island. Fred returned to work on the water for a few years before joining Tolan Water Company where he retired after 10 years. Not one to sit idle for long, Fred was the first greeter hired at the new Walmart in Fruitland when it opened. He retired again after almost 10 years with Walmart. This was the job he enjoyed the most. He loved the interaction with the customers. He considered every one of them his friend. Many will remember him for his greeting, "Where did you get that beautiful smile?"

Fred's hobbies included fishing, horseshoes and playing cards. His passion was playing the guitar and singing. He loved to sing gospel and classic country songs. He spent many an hour singing with family and friends. He also sang in churches, retirement homes and nursing homes all over the Eastern Shore.

Left behind to cherish their memories of him, are his loving wife of 26 years, Patricia Hatfield Daniels, his precious daughter Dawn Yackel, beloved son-in-law Scott Yackel Sr., his wonderful grandchildren Jennifer Yackel (her companion Doug Draper Jr.), Scott Yackel Jr. (wife Leighann) and his amazing great-grandsons Trystian, Atreyu and Ryder. He also leaves behind many special nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his sister Audrey Benton and his brother Earl Daniels.

A celebration of Fred's life will take place at Faith Independent Church in Wenona, MD. on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 2 PM. The reverends Barry Groh and Linwood (Sonny) Benton will lead the service. Refreshments will be served in the church hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Faith Independent Church in Wenona or the Christian Shelter in Salisbury.
