Jess W. Dye, age 87, died August 20, 2006, at Springfield, Mo. He was born Sept. 2, 1921, the son of Edward and Nellie Dye of St. Louis, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Vernie, Ray and Charles Dye; and three sisters, Cora Gaede, May Bartlett and Ruth Crass.

Jess was a decorated World War II U.S. Army Veteran. He attended Kinser Chapel, Springfield, Mo., was a member of Polar Star-Rose Hill Masonic Lodge, St. Louis County, Mo., and a member of Disabled American Veterans, WIT, Winnie Mo Tasca, The Ozark Winnies, and the Used To Be RVers.

Jess was married to Norma Clark Dec. 3, 1952, at Pocahontas, Ark. He was a devoted husband, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friends. Jess also loved motorhoming, nature, history, pets and wildlife.

Jess is survived by his wife, Norma, of 53 years; four sisters, all of Mo., Effie Cox, Springfield, Carrie Gaede, Elsinore, Ruby Deatherage, Florissant, and Virginia McCune, St. Peters; two brothers-in-law, Sherman and wife, Lillian Crass, Conway, Ark., and Henry Clark, Sparta, Mo.; three sisters-in-law, Lucille and Raymond Jackson, Springfield; Audrey Barr, Mesa, Ariz., and Nona and Michael Stephens, Springfield; and his very special to him nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Services will be Friday, Aug. 25, at 2 p.m. in Missouri Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kinser Chapel Church, Springfield, Mo.
