Carrie Opal Dye-Gaede, daughter of the late Edward Lee and Nellie (Qualls) Dye, was born June 19, 1911 in Big Piney, Missouri and departed this life September 16, 2010 at her residence in Ellsinore, Missouri.

She had attained the age of ninety-nine years, two months and twenty-seven days. Mrs. Gaede had resided in Ellsinore since 1996 and was formerly of St. Louis and Jennings, Missouri. She was retired from the Bussman Fuse Company as a pinner. She was a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff and attended faithfully until she was no longer able. She enjoyed crocheting, traveling, and eating out and would shop until she dropped. She also enjoyed spending the winters in Gulf Shores, Ala.

In February 1932 she was united in marriage to John Gaede in Arkansas and he preceded her in death in 1993. She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Mae Bartlett, Effie Cox, Cora Gaede, Ruth Crass and Ruby Deatherage; four brothers, Vernie, Ray, Charles and Jesse and one grandson, Richard Allen Gaede Survivors include one daughter, Betty Rayfield Clyburn and husband, Rick of Ellsinore; one son, Richard Dale Gaede and wife Alta of Canton, Ga.; one sister, Virginia McCune of St. Peters; six grandchildren, John Wayne Rayfield of Florida, La Donna Joy Dewerff of Poplar Bluff, Richard Lee Rayfield and wife, Debbie of Ellington, Debbie Cornett and husband, Charlie and Randy Gaede all of Georgia; fourteen great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren and one due in October and other relatives and friends who mourn her passing. While living she enjoyed the company of five generations on two sides.

Visitation: 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19th in the McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellsinore, Mo. with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Monday in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in St. Louis, MO with Randy Gaede officiating.
