Rickie Dean Alley, 22, was pronounced dead on arrival at Barrett Hospital Wednesday evening about 8:45, with the cause of death apparently from a gunshot wound.
The tragedy took place in the 20 block on North Montana Street and occurred in the pickup truck belonging to Alley. Police officers were notified at 8:38pm, but when they arrived on the scene, the victim had already been taken to Barrett Hospital.
Investigation of the affair is continuing by the Dillon City Police, Beaverhead County Sheriff's Office, Beaverhead County Attorney and Beaverhead County Coroner.
Rickie Dean Alley was born in Dillon, Sep 5, 1950. He was a resident of the area most of his life, attending Dillon schools and Beaverhead County High School. He served in the United States Army in Germany.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs Curtis (Shirley) Dickerson; a brother Kenny Alley of New York; a sister Sharon Carpita of Dillon and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mabel Ross of Dillon.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 from the Brundage Chapel directed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. Interment will be in the Legion plot of Mountain View Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by the Dillon American Legion Post 20.
