Edwin was born on May 4, 1907, in Grant County, the son of the late Burr and Bertha (Spangler) Hix. He married Irene Emerick on November 23, 1929. She preceded him in death on May 19, 2005, after 75 years of marriage.
Edwin was a retired farmer. He was a member of the College Wesleyan Church in Marion.
Survivors include son, James E. (Marilyn) Hix, Dalton, Ga.; daughters, Norma J. Collins, Warren, and Barbara (Aurin) Collins, Ft. Ogden, Fla.; brother, Benjamin (Marie) Hix, Van Buren; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Georgia Eakins and Opal Taylor, a brother, Paul Hix and a granddaughter, Christina Negley.
