Pvt Isaac Avera/Avery's brothers, Lucian Avera, Calvin Avera, John Daniel Avera, Thomas Jefferson Avera and William Rufus Avera all served the Confederacy.
John Daniel, Thomas Jefferson & William Rufus served the Confederacy under Captain Henry M Barnes, Harnett County, NC in Company B, 10th Battalion, North Carolina Heavy Artillery aka "Black River Tigers". The Black River Tigers protected the port of Wilmington, fought in Savannah, Ga, the Battles of Averasboro and Bentonville in North Carolina, March of 1865.
Lucian and Calvin served in Co F, 15th Infantry NC.
Only ONE brother, John Daniel Avera, survived the War Between The States! None of the other brothers grave sites are known.
Three monuments were erected on the Olde Averasborough town site to honor the Avera Family who founded the town, the Avera brothers and the Black River Tigers. My husband and I were present and participated in the dedication of the monuments and also helped Bryan Avery, a descendant erect and dedicate the gravemarker for Isaac.
