John Franke, 83, longtime area rancher, died at 4:45 p.m. Monday in Cox Memorial Hospital.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday from Grace Lutheran Church with the pastor, the Rev. Ted Steenblock, officiating.

Burial will bein Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elliott's Funeral Home.

Mr. Franke was born November 6, 1886, near Brenham and attended schools there. He married the former Ada Straach in Rowena, May 3, 1922.

He farmed and ranched for many yars in the Sagerton area, moving to Abilene in 1944 when he retired.

He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and was a veteran of World War I serving in France.

Survivors include his wife; two sisters, Mrs. W.H. Spiser of Wichita Falls and Mrs. Bruno Kupatt of Fredricksburg.
