Hannah Couch was born in Greene County, Tennessee, and came with her family, first to Trenton in Grundy County, Missouri and later to Chillicothe in Livingston County, Missouri. Hannah married George W. Shepard on February 16, 1865 in Livingston County, Missouri, but George died in the Civil War a short time later - Hannah Shepard subsequently married John Thomas King on December 24, 1866, also in Livingston County, Missouri. She & her second husband had a son, Charley O'Leary King, who died young and then a daughter, Susannah ("Angie") King, who married Archer Holmes McBain on Feb 22, 1890 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Hannah and her family are found in (or near) Beatrice, Gage County, Nebraska in the 1870 Census and then in Leadville, Lake County, Colorado in the 1880 Census. Susannah (King) McBain had two children with Archer McBain (Oscar, Harriett), and he died on January 15, 1922 in Rochester, New York. Susannah was in an asylum in Rochester in the 1925 NY State Census, the 1930 & 1940 U.S. Census and died in the State Hospital in Rochester, where she had been committed for over 25 years, in 1951.
