DIED. GODAT – In Aurora, July 24th, 1886, Ida Ellen, wife of Eugene M. Godat, 20 years 6 months 19 days.
Walker Lake Bulletin, 7/28/1886:
Sad News From Aurora.
Aurora, July 26, 1886, Ed Bulletin. – Two deaths on Saturday, followed by two funerals on Sunday have changed many of our usually cheerful and happy homes into houses of mourning. Mrs. Godat whose death occurred on Saturday morning was the daughter of our fellow townsman W.H. Hoops. Mrs. Godat was raised and educated in our midst, and much esteemed by her friends and acquaintances. Her funeral services were performed by the Rev. I.P. Hale, at the residence of deceased’s parents, and at two o’clock her remains were followed to the burial place by the citizens and residents of Aurora and the surrounding neighborhood, and much sympathy was manifested for the surviving relatives….[see Henry Langley for next portion]…These occurrences remind us that life at best is but of short duration, and that we should all improve opportunities that God has given us and prepare for the life to come.
