Alma Ella Bier, 91, of Mandan, passed away on October 28, 2015 at St. Vincent’s Care Center. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 2, at 11 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Mandan, with Pastor Ryan Wolfe officiating. Burial will be held at 12 p.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.

Family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the start of the service at the church.

Alma was born on January 29, 1924, in Hazen, along with her twin brother Albert. They were the first of 12 children born to Edward and Otilla (Maas) Mittelsteadt.

Alma married the love of her life, Wilbert Bier on August 12, 1946 in Glendive, MT. They lived in Mandan and together they were blessed with three children.

Alma is survived by one son, Jerry (Irene) of Mandan, two daughters, Sharon (Michael) Jacobsen of Bakersfield, California, and Nancy (Tom) Zander of Bismarck, nine grandchildren Lyn (Jaime) Espericueta, Lisa (Anthony) Martinez, Sonja (John) Talamantes, Andrea (Myke) Ruiz all of Bakersfield, California, Kristen (Chance) Schaffner of Bismarck, Jason Bier of Mandan, Chris (Sara) Reagan, Lincoln, Nebraska, Justin Reagan of Mandan, and Luke Zander of Bismarck; nine great-grandchildren Marissa (Lawrence) Diego, Marcos Espericueta, Sonia and Lydia Talamantes, Ryan and Olivia Ruiz, Evan and Jayden Bier and Camden Schaffner; one sister, Esther Kruckenberg of Mandan and three brothers, Paul (Charlene), Roy (Pat) and Gordon (Pat), all of California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four sisters, Hulda (infant), Helen Columbus, Frieda Pinks and Irene Ost; and three brothers, Albert, Melvin and Walter.

Memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church Building Fund.
