James Gilmer, one of the oldest residents of the county, died at his home in Bargersville on last Friday evening. Deceased had been in poor health for some time but was able to be about until a few hours before his death. He took a severe chill on Friday morning while hauling wood and this was followed by congestion of the lungs and death speedily followed. The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon the remains being interred in the Bargersville cemetery.

BARGERSVILLE ~ James Gilmer died at his home in Bargersville on Friday the 3d, of lung fever. Deceased was past sixty years of age, and on the morning of his death he was hauling wood while it was raining and died at three and a half o’clock in the afternoon. On Sunday the 29th his daughter, Mrs. Joseph List, died after only a few days sickness. Only one month ago one of his sisters, Mrs. Nick Carnine died after only three days of suffering and two years ago a brother of Uncle Jim’s, Steven Gilmer, was found dead in the harvest field.
