Born in Pittston, he was a son of the late Casimir and Lillian Greskiewicz Botyrius. He was a graduate of Wyoming High School, class of 1961, and Penn State University, class of 1963, receiving a degree in engineering. Tony also attended Wilkes University, where he pursued a business administration degree.
He was involved for many years in the telecommunications industry, first at Commonwealth Telephone as an engineer, later at Nortel as a district sales representative, and, prior to his retirement, he was employed by Tekelec. Following his passion for food and cooking, he owned and operated Dantonio's Restaurant, formerly located on Public Square in Wilkes-Barre. Tony was an avid stamp collector, enjoyed Lionel train shows and also loved flower gardens and practicing the art of Bonsai.
He shared his love of travel with his family, accompanying them to many interesting and exotic locations at home and around the world, including China, Ireland, Africa, Poland and Alaska. He was a member of the Pioneers Telephone Club, Pittston Senior Citizens, Coin Collectors Club, the Wyoming Monument Sportsmen Club and the Buck Knoll Hunting Club of Sparrow Bush, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his son, Eric Botyrius.
Surviving are children Tony, York; Alicia Botyrius, Overland Park, Kansas; sister Ronnie Dreabit and her husband, George, Wyoming; and former wife, Geri Maier Botyrius, Wyoming; as well as nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday from the Metcalfe and Shaver Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Cecilia's Church, Exeter. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m.
