ARRINGTON, Vivian Blanche Sutherland, who was born June 30, 1919,passed away to join her Heavenly Father, Friday, April 8, 2011, in Tampa.

A devoted wife, mother and daughter, Blanche will always be remembered for her love of family and virtuous, self-sacrificing nature. "Happiest when surrounded by loved ones, Mom departed this world assured of the great love of God and blessings of family." She was born on the Sutherland homestead on the Frying Pan in southwest Virginia and was raised in Haysi, Va., by her beloved parents, Dr. T.C. Sutherland and Emma Yates Sutherland, along with five adored siblings. After graduating from Mary Washington College, she taught school in Ervington, Va., and later worked for the firm H.E. Harmon.

In 1952, she married A.D. Arrington, resulting in a blessed union lasting 47 years until his passing in 1999.

She is survived by her four children and seven grandchildren. Her legacy is one of faith, family, selflessness, along with glorious memories of an unsurpassed childhood. Mimi dedicated her life to serving her family, be it her parents, her children, or grandchildren; that is where she found joy. Her surviving family legacy includes Myra Arrington Carroll (Tim) of Richmond, Va.; Hugh Arrington (Cathy) of Dade City, Fla.; John Arrington (Amy) of Tampa; and Paul Arrington (Judy) of Madison, Miss. Mimi's precious grandchildren include Clara, Jane, Hannah, Ethan, Laurel, Grant and Emma. "While our world will never be the same without our greatest champion and ardent supporter, our lives will honor her memory. We love you Mom."
