Mr. Albert Crider, age 92, of Murray, Kentucky died at his home on Thursday, October 29, 2015.
Mr. Crider was born on July 20, 1923 in Tennessee to the late Ernest Crider and Martha (Dawson) Crider. In addition to his parents Mr. Crider was preceded in death by his wife, June Crider, of 67 years, who died on April 15, 2014; and by his two brothers, Leon and Clide Crider.
Mr. Crider graduated from Murray High School (MHS) in 1941. He was one of the first football players to play on the Ty Holland Field. He also coached football at MHS during WWII and was inducted into the MHS Football Hall of Fame in 2006.
Mr. Crider graduated from Murray State University with a degree in Industrial Technology. He spent 36 years in management at Tappan Manufacturing Company in Murray. The last 5 years of his employment with Tappan was in Springfield, Tennessee. Prior to working for Tappan he was co-owner of the Blue Bird Cafe, National Hotel dining room and the North Side Coffee Shop.
Mr. Crider was a member of First Baptist Church, the Solomon Sunday School Class and the MAGIC Group. Previously, he was a member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church for 50 years where he served as Church Clerk for 16 years and was on various church committees. He also served as a trustee of Johnathan Creek Baptist Assembly.
Mr. Crider was a member of the Murray Masonic Lodge F. & A.M. #105 and in 2014 was presented with a 70 year membership pin. He was an Army Veteran of WWII.
He is survived by one daughter, Kathy Crider Long and husband George of Benton, Kentucky; a nephew, like a son, Mickey Kondratko, of Murray, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Eric Long and wife Jackie of Benton Kentucky and Evan Long and wife Rachel of Lexington, Kentucky; three great grandchildren Lucyanne Elizabeth Long, Griffin Elliott Long and Bode Wagner Long; and by one sister, Nancy Woods of Paducah, Kentucky; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at the Elm Grove Cemetery with Pastor Keith Inman officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be held prior to the graveside service on Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
