Benj. Wheeler, of this city, died suddenly yesterday morning at 10 o'clock. He was born in Schuyler County, Illinois, in 1848 and moved here in the early days. He carried on the blacksmithing business until a couple of years ago when he suffered a stroke of paralysis from which he never recovered, but gradually grew worse until his death. He served a short time as a recruit in the 51st Regiment, Ind. Vol. His parents (Jonathan D. and Martha Jane Wheeler of Flora, Indiana) are both living. He leaves a wife (Agnes) but no children. The funeral will occur at 2 p.m. from the family residence. Internment in the Masonic Cemetery. (Obituary from the Delphi Citizen Times, 29 Jan 1900)
