ARTHUR BRIGGS, 45, DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Arthur Lee Briggs, 45 years old, of Na-Au-Say township, a hoisting engineer at the Seneca Shipyards, died yesterday in Silver Cross Hospital following a lengthy illness.
A native of Ft. Scott, Kansas he has resided near Minooka for several years during which time he was employed at the munitions plant here. Recently he and his family moved to Na-Au-Say township.
Surviving are the widow, Jessie; six daughters, Mrs. Fred Rolando of Joliet; Geneva, Betty, Eleanor, Margery and Geraldine: four sons, Melvin with the Coast Guard, Merle, Billie and Arthur Lee III: Also two grandchildren and his mother, Mrs. Ella Briggs of Plainfield, and seven sisters, Mrs. E. E. Shepherd of Plainfield; Mrs. Gertrude McClure and Mrs. Bertha Wyrick of Chicago; Mrs. Mabel Avery of Plainfield; Mrs. Margaret Fulkerson of Liberal, Mo.; Mrs. Cleona Overstreet of El Rancho, Calif., and Leona Lane of Long Beach, Calif., and five nephews.
The funeral will be held from the Luce funeral home at Plainfield Wednesday afternoon to the Baptist church at 2 o'clock. The Rev. A. G. Annette will officiate. Burial will be in the Plainfield cemetery.
