Janet E. Baker Wech, 56, of RR2, Box 2053, Laceyville, PA (Indian Hill), passed away on Wednesday morning, June 29, 2005 at the Beverly Health Care in Tunkhannock.
She was born in Meshoppen on July 31, 1948, the daughter of Shirley W. White Baker of Laceyville and the late Cyrus T. Baker, who passed away in May 2001.
Janet was a graduate of Wyalusing Valley High School, Class of 1967. For the past eight years, Janet was employed by the Beverly Health Care in Tunkhannock, as a Certified Nurses Aide until ill health forced her retirement in October 2004. For many years, she attended the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church, with her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Besides her mother, she is survived by three sons, Asa and his wife, Kim Stevens of Springville, Seth Stevens and friend, Mary Ann Jayne of Wyalusing and Jay Stevens of Tunkhannock; a brother and sister-in-law, Arden and Diane Baker of Meshoppen; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon Baker of Laceyville, Dolores and Gilbert Sands of Tunkhannock and Kim and Michael Galvin of Factoryville; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 2 at 11 a.m. from the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, with Rev. Susan Wenner of the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church and Rev. Mark King, family friend, officiating. Interment will be in the Overfield Cemetery in Meshoppen. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday, July 1 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those wishing, may make memorial contributions to the Wyoming County Cancer Society, c/o Tyler Memorial Hospital, 880 SR 6W, Tunkhannock, PA 18657.
