Mr. Cyrus T. Baker, age 80, of RR2, Box 2053, Laceyville, PA, (Indian Hill), passed away at his home on Sunday morning, May 20, 2001.
Born in Meshoppen on Oct. 26, 1920, he was the son of the late Francis and Eliza Brotzman Baker. Mr. Baker was employed as a manager at Cornell Manufacturing in Laceyville for 36 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church in Laceyville. He was also a member of the Meshoppen Grange, the Oriental Grange and the Pomona Grange and was Master of the Wyoming County Chapter for many years. A past member of the Good Will Fire Company of Laceyville, he was a past member of the Overfield Cemetery Association of Meshoppen. Cy is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Shirley White; a son and his wife, Arden and Diane Baker of Meshoppen; four daughters and their husbands, Miss Sharon Baker of Laceyville, Janet and Malcolm Wech of Wyalusing, Dolores and Gilbert Sands of Tunkhannock and Kimberly and Anthony Johnson of Laceyville; a brother, Walter Baker of West Melbourne, FL; two sisters, Mrs. Hilda Bennett of Stevensville and Mrs. Leland (Mable) Wood of Vestal, NY; 11 grandchildren, Jesse Baker of Johnson City, NY, Luke Baker and Angie Baker, both of Meshoppen, Asa Stevens, Seth Stevens and Jay Stevens, all of Springville, Edna Sands of Punxsutawney, Roy Sands and Bobbi Jo Sands, both of Tunkhannock and Branden and Autumn Johnson, both of Laceyville; two stepgrandchildren, Scott Wech of Las Vegas, NV and Dennis Wech of Kileen, TX; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Baker and Jenny Baker and three brothers, George, John and Joseph Baker. Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, May 24 at 11 a.m. at the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church with Rev. Ann Blair, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Overfield Cemetery in Meshoppen. Family and friends called at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial donations to the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church, RR1, Laceyville, PA 18623
