Mottley Adams, 79, of Albertville, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Huntsville Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Reaves Adams; children, Joe and Lori Adams, Beverly Adams and Mary Jane and Rick Hartman, all of Albertville; brother-in-law, Kyle and Marie Reaves, of Guntersville; grandchildren, Chris and Angela Adams, Heather and Lawayne Nunnelley, Leslie Cox, Rachel Lowery, Mary Jo Adams and Shelby Adams; and great-grandchildren, Payne Adams, Tripp Adams and Raven Adams. He was preceded in death by one son, Andy Adams.

Originally from Bowling Green, Ky., he came to Alabama in 1949. He worked for the Albertville Herald and Thompson Printing. He was a pioneer and partner at Creative Printers for 26 years, where he worked until the time of his death.

He was a victim of polio at the age of 15 but never considered himself handicapped. Among numerous accomplishments, he was awarded Self-Employed Person of the Year by Marshall County Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities in 1995. He was a member of Solitude Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and treasurer for many years. He had a great love for life and every person he met he touched their life in some way.

Services took place at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home with the Revs. Willis Kelly and Joey Cannady officiating. Lee Fleming provided the music. Burial followed at Marshall Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Grimes, Phillip Strange, Hewlett Boger, Orville Godwin, Ray Dennis and Kenneth Harbison. Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Bonds, Jerry Hudgins and deacons of Solitude Baptist Church.
