William Torrence is the son of John Torrence and Jane McConnell Jolly Torrence.

He married Jane Lawrence on Jan 2, 1812. Jane died in 1823.

1. Miranda Jane Torrence, married Mr. Davidson.
2. Soloman Lawrence Torrence
3. Eliza Ann Torrence, married in 1841, James Currie.
4. John McNutt Torrence, M.D; married Mary Curry.
5. David Beveridge Torrence, born March 14, 1822; died December 28, 1894. His first wife, name unknown, died within a year. He married, second, November 9, 1852, Nancy McMillan.

On May 4, 1826, he married Mary Watt. Mary died in 1855.

6. Susannah Torrence, married William E. McClellan.
7. Rev. George Watt Torrence, married Lizzie Crane, then Martha Harrah.
8. Rev. William Jolly Torrence, born July 4, 1830; died unmarried, December 5, 1853. A Presbyterian clergyman.
9. Rev. James Templeton Torrence, married Sarah Isabell Leslie.
10. Mary Elizabeth Torrence, born March 19, 1815; died November, 1836.
11. Martha Torrence, born May 16, 1840; died October 17, 1840.

In Feb., 1858, he married Mrs. Margaret Espy, a widow, who had twelve children by her prior marriage.

William was a veteran of War of 1812.
