Daniel Jones was born June 9, 1844 in the state of Ohio, and died at his son's home, south of Paullina, March 13, 1926, at the age 81 year, nine months and four days. He came to Iowa from Indiana in the year 1881 and settled near Sac City, moving to Cherokee county about 43 years ago. Mrs. Jones departed this life about two years ago, and preveious to that two of the children died, Stella, age 1 in 1884, and Mary, age 22, in 1895.
Funeral services for the deceased were held at the home of his son W. A. Jones on Monday afternoon of this week. Rev H. P. Morgan in charge with interment in the Aurelia cemetery. Appropriate songs were sung by John Cowan, Alex Brown, Mrs. Elmer Lundell, Mrs. Rosco Brown and Mrs. Margaret Brown with Mrs. R. C. Brown assisting at the piano. The pallbears were Roscoe Whitesell, Leslie Whitesell, Guy Whitesell, Marlin Jones, Daniel Jones and Allan Jones. The deceased is survived by four children, W. A. Jones, Mrs. Emma Longwell, Mrs. Rose Wiseman, and Mrs. Nellie Whitesell, with eighteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
