He was baptized in Defiance and he has been a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church there.
In 1907, he moved with his family to a farm 1 mile north of Defiance and he has lived on this same farm since that time. In 1910 he married Ella Young in Denison and to this union 2 daughters and 2 sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his son Bill, who was killed October 9, 1944 while serving with the US Navy during World War II, and by his parents, 2 brothers: (1) Peter Jr and (2) Alfred Hulsebus, and 5 sisters: (1) Tillie Ahrenholtz, (2) Lydia Ahrenholtz, (3) Kate Hartman, (4) Hannah Muller and (5) Katie Hulsebus (infant sister).
Rudolph (Ruddie) is survived by his wife Ella, 2 daughters: (1) Delila Jacobsen (Curley) of Gypsum, Colorado and (2) Unabelle Brown (George) of Saginaw, Michigan, and one son Fred Hulsebus (Gladys Meyer) of Fort Collins, Colorado, 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 1 sister Amanda Nelson (Nels) of California.
Funeral services were held Monday at the United Methodist Church in Defiance with Rev George McMullen officiating. Burial was at the Union Township Cemetery in Defiance. The Pauley Home for Funerals of Harlan was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
