Lois Marie Messinger Powell
- August 21-2015
Lois Marie Messinger Powell passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Beaver, Utah to Clyde Leroy Messinger and Lois Marie Stoney Messinger. She married Don Gayle Powell on September 30, 1965, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

As an active member of the LDS church, Marie loved serving in the Young Women's program as Beehive leader and Camp Director. She also served in the Primary and Relief Society as president. Marie along with her husband Don, served faithfully for two years in the Salt Lake, Inner City Service Mission. In her free time, she was fond of reading, gardening, and knitting or crocheting things for others. She had an abundant stockpile of yarn. She also liked walking in the mornings with friends and canning fruit in the fall with her daughters. She cherished camping and hiking, particularly in Beaver Canyon with her sister Shirley and their families. Her parents taught her as a young girl to enjoy spending time in the mountains and in nature, she took great pleasure in spending that time outdoors, with her family whom she always held as her highest priority. Marie was fond of all animals with the small exception of rats and snakes. She particularly adored her dogs, which she would spoil daily. Her wit and light hearted friendly teasing always made it fun to be around her, her unconditional love and motherly tenderness always made it hard to be away.

Marie is survived by her husband, Don, Children, 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by mother and father, and son Steven Powell.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 11:00am at the East Mill Creek 9th Ward, 3750 South Hillside Lane (2600 E.).
Friends and family are invited to visit Friday evening 6:00-8:00pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church Saturday morning 9:30-10:30am prior to the service.
