William E. Hinkle, respected resident of this community for 57 years, who died at 1:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Sycamore Municipal hospital after a five-day illness. He was 61 years old.

The services will be held Thursday from the home of his sisters at 349 North California street and from the Methodist Episcopal church at 2:30, the Rev. James O'May and Rev. A. W. Mohns officiating. Burial was in Elmwood.

William Eugene Hinkle was born at Eckford, Mich., on July 3, 1871, the only son and eldest child of George W. and Mary Hill Hinkle. He came to Sycamore with his parents in 1875 and had since lived in this vicinity, on the Hinkle homestead north of town, until about 30 years ago when he and his wife moved to their own home, northeast of Sycamore.

William Hinkle was united in marriage with Pearl B. Benson on November 14, 1895.

He is survived by his widow and three children: Harold, Mrs. Marie McConn and Rosella Myrtle; and by four grand children, all of Sycamore. One child died in infancy. His three sisters, Lillian, Jessie and Alice also mourn his passing.

Mr. Hinkle was a man much devoted to his family and his home, and never forgot his friends; he never missed an opportunity to do good. His death takes from our midst a loving husband and faithful friend and neighbor.
