ARCHIE ADAMS, born September 27, 1934 in Viper, Kentucky to Ray and Evelyn (Young) Adams went to be with the Lord on October 1, 2015, at the age of 81.

He was a long-time member of the Centerburg Freewill Baptist Church.

He loved to fish and couldn't wait each year for our annual trip to Canada to fish Rice Lake and Lake Fontana. He got his love for fishing from his dad who passed it on to the whole family.

He was an avid hunter and taught each one of his "boys" and "girls" how to hunt. Many hours were spent around the fire in the shelter house stirring lunch and sharing hunting stories.

His love for his family and friends was so precious and will be cherished FOREVER by anyone who knew him. When he smiled his whole face lit up and brightened the whole room.

He was a member of the Army of the United States for 1 year.

He is survived by his wife, Glenna (Hamilton) Adams of 56 years. Together they had three children: Glorean (Dave) Gilkerson, Rick Adams, Diane (Rick) Ratliff.

He had nine grandchildren: Brandon (Kristin) Adams, Adriane Dudgeon; (Rod Sanborn), Michael (Karen) Adams, Daniel Forman, Tiffany (Charles) Webb, Joshua Adams, Lauren Forman, Kristin Ratliff and Ally (Ryan) Wall.

He was blessed with fourteen great-grandchildren: Clarissa, Madison, Lincoln, Kaden, Kaiden, Keagen, Kiara, Bailey, Bella, Payton, Nathan, Macklin, Will & Alaina.

He has two surviving brothers, John (Kathy) Adams and Dan Adams. He has five surviving sisters, Bonnie (Harvey) Moore, Dora (Astor) Caudill, Billie (Gene) Adams, Martha (Don) Newell, Mary (Jerry) Newell.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray & Evelyn Adams, an infant sister, Linda Sue Adams, brother Eugene (Billie) Adams, sisters, Aggie (Herman) Adkins and Shirley (J.P.) Hall.

God blessed him with an amazing large family. His father, Ray, worked very hard to make sure that his family spent time together. The little house was always filled to the max for all major holidays, days spent fishing the banks of Alum Creek, cleaning all those crappies and Friday night dinners with Rook card games. People would line up for Archie's sausage gravy at the Adams reunion in Kentucky and Labor Day weekend. Archie was handed the reins to carry those traditions on and did so with pride. Let's make him and Pap proud and keep these traditions going for generations to come.

Friends may call on the family on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 North State Route 61, Sunbury, Ohio, 43074. Funeral services will be held there on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Tuggle officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Bloomfield Cemetery.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
