Edith W. Wirsig was born near Taylor, Loup Co., Nebraska on May 29th, 1891 and died of pneumonia on April 3rd 1922 at her home in Taylor, after a brief illness of but five days. She graduated from the Kearney State Teachers College in 1917. At different times she taught in the rural schools of Loup County and in the town schools of Arcadia, Gering and Taylor, being a teacher of Taylor at the time of her death. For several years she was the County Superintendent of Schools of Loup County, being very efficient at work. She was married to Walter D. Jensen, Ph. G., D.V.M. on September 15th 1919, about three months after he returned from overseas service in the World War. Her husband Walter, three sisters and three brothers survive her; John G. Wirsig, Grace B. Patterson, Retta A. Longshore, Otto A. Wirsig, Leonard A. Wirsig and Ruby Wirsig. Her father Frank A. Wirsig and mother Mary E. Wirsig and an infant sister Eva, preceded her to the Great Beyond, her mother dying March 8, 1921. The remains were laid to rest beside her mother in the Kent cemetery."
Note: Edith's father, Frank, died March 7, 1903 and her sister, Eva, died November 28, 1893, living just 4 days.
